North Rim Pocket Map and Services GuideIn place of a newspaper, the North Rim Pocket Map and Services Guide is distributed at entrance stations, visitor centers, lodges, campgrounds, stores, and out-of-park locations, or you may download an PDF version below. Outside The Park Camping - North RimDeMotte CampgroundOperated by the U.S. Forest Service. 16 miles/ 28km north of the canyon rim. No hookups. 1/2 of sites may be reserved. Generally open May 15 through October 15. for overnight camping, depending on snowfall. $22 for one or two vehicles. An Extra Vehicle Fee of $9.00 per vehicle, per night (space providing), will be collected on-site beginning with third vehicle. (Only 1 RV/trailer per site). Free evening programs. Dispersed CampingIs permitted in the national forest outside the park; there are restrictions, however. Inquire at North Rim Visitor Center inside park, or at Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center at Jacob Lake (928) 643-7298. In winter contact the North Kaibab Ranger District, Kaibab National Forest, P.O. Winter Camping on the North Rim - When Roads Are ClosedNorth Rim roads are closed to vehicles between December 1st and May 15th, and no visitor services are available. During these winter months snowshoers, and cross-country skiers are permitted to use the North Rim Campground, provided a backcountry use permit has been obtained in advance. – These permits are available through the South Rim Backcountry Information Center.
