Artist-in-Residence Online Catalog

"Each donated piece is to be accompanied by a brief written statement that either describes how the piece relates to the artist's experience of the park, or conveys what the artist has in mind to share with visitors about the park."

The Artist-in-Residence program encourages accomplished artists to create fresh and innovative new ways for visitors to experience Acadia. Eventually, all artwork donated to the program is to be documented here in a comprehensive online catalog. Each donated piece is to be accompanied by a brief written statement that either describes how the piece relates to the artist's experience of the park, or conveys what the artist has in mind to share with visitors about the park. Curatorial choices about which visual art pieces are displayed publicly in a growing number of galleries throughout the park and beyond are made internally, and are based primarily on the interpretive capacity of each piece, and the purpose it serves visitors within the larger program collection.
