Artist Statement

In this painting I wanted to draw the viewer into the bold beauty of Schoodic Point, where the power of waves beating against the well-worn bedrock express a timelessness to the spectacular view of Mount Desert Island.

Much of Gary Hoyle's work has been at the interface of art and science. For 28 years he was an exhibits artist and the Curator of Natural History at the Maine State Museum.
