Lisa Furman is an artist and art therapist from New Haven, CT. She has a BFA in painting from Rhode Island School of Design, an MA in art therapy from New York University, and a PhD in counseling and psychology from Lesley University. As a licensed, board-certified art therapist, she has worked with children in foster care, cancer patients, and the mentally ill helping them heal through the creative process, finding a voice in art for what they could not otherwise say in words.

Her own work combines figurative and landscape elements, using mixed media and printmaking techniques with a focus on richly complex surfaces. Her artwork has been exhibited in the United States and Spain. In 2012, she developed an art therapy program model in conjunction with the National Park Service (NPS) as part of the Healthy Parks, Healthy People initiative. The initial projects were launched at Weir Farm National Historic Park in Wilton, CT providing in-park art therapy for various groups, including cancer patients and emotionally challenged youth.
