We want you to make the best of your visit to Shenandoah National Park. From this page you can learn about the laws and policies that we have put in place for your safety, the safety of the park, and to maximize the experience of all our visitors in Shenandoah National Park.

Permits and Reservations are required for a variety of activities in Shenandoah National Park. Special use permits are required for special events such as weddings, commercial filming, and group bicycle rides. Backcountry camping requires a permit, while some of our campgrounds allow reservations.

Pets are allowed on most trails in Shenandoah National Park, however there are some exceptions. If you are planning to bring your furry friends make sure to review where they can go before you set off.
