As the National Park Service monitors and responds to the COVID-19 pandemic, we work closely with the U.S. Public Health Service to use the latest science to guide our decision making. The NPS has updated its masking guidance based on the CDC's COVID-19 Community Levels tool, which helps decide what prevention steps to take based on local conditions.
Consistent with CDC guidance regarding areas of substantial or high transmission, visitors to Shenandoah National Park, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask inside all park buildings.
Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, and all trails are open. Most park facilities are also open for the season. Refer to our operating hours for more information on opening dates and hours for visitor centers, dining areas, lodges, campgrounds, and picnic areas.
