Pictured Rocks is a great family park. The sandstone cliffs, long beaches, numerous waterfalls, forested trails, and perched sand dunes will delight kids as well as the adults in your family. As you travel through the park, you’ll find numerous opportunities for everyone to get out of the car and explore the park’s features no matter how long or short your stay might be. Planning a Family Visit
► Stop at one of many scenic sites to see the colorful cliffs, play at one of our beaches, or stand atop the giant sand dunes.
► Bring your hiking shoes and take a stroll on a trail to see beaches, forests, waterfalls, wetlands, and the cliffs.
► Schedule a boat tour to view the towering cliffs that stretch 15 miles along Lake Superior’s shoreline.
► Enjoy the beauty and sounds at one of the waterfalls found inside the park.
► Visit one of the maritime sites along Lake Superior to uncover stories of the past by looking for shipwrecks or taking a lighthouse tour.
► Become an official Junior Ranger of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
► Come out for a ranger program with your family, friends, school group, or other organized group to learn more about the park.
