Notes: His birthdate is not exact. He was born about 1742. He was of average height and had a mole on his cheek. He entered the Franciscan Order at the Convento de San Cristóbal de Alpartir. He and Father Garcés met on the way to Calahorra. While Garcés studied theology, Ximeno made his novitiate. Ximeno came to New Spain with the Mission of 1769. He came to Tumacácori in 1772 to replace Father Gil de Bernabe. In November of that year he was joined by Father Clemente. There was only one stipend, but for the first time the mission had two missionaries. They built new adobe structures at Tumacácori and a wall around the entire complex. They roofed the church at Calabazas and consecrated the cemetery. Father Ximeno left Tumacácori in the summer of 1773 after being there a little over a year. He served at Pitic from mid-1774 to mid-1776. He was back at Querétaro by the late 1770's but is no longer on the list in 1781. |
