NPS LIBRIS

The National Park Service Resource Information Service can be used to search for materials that have been cataloged throughout the National Park Service. The Yosemite Research Library recommends utilizing the Advanced Search option, and make sure to choose "YOSE" in the "select locations" pull-down menu).The NPS LIBRIS information page provides access to and information about a plethora of materials, along with links to services available through the national office.

  • LEARN ABOUT features and services (Library Info page, embedded Search Tips, Help)

  • SEARCH the Catalog multiple ways (Simple/Advanced Search w/ Limits, or Browse)

  • LINK from Catalog records to OCLC WorldCat, LibraryThing, digital items (as available)

  • SHARE selected resources using Email, Social Media, PermaLinks, Endnote Web  

  • REVISIT search results using EndNote, My Account (latter is pending for NPS staff only) 

  • GET CURRENT on titles added in the last 30 days using Special Searches in Search menu

  • INCREASE AWARENESS of special NPS topics using Special Titles in Lists menu 

  • ACCESS other library catalogs directly using Search Other Catalogs option in Search menu

  • CONNECT to more resources using Explore NPS in right menu, Other Portals on the left

  • REQUEST assistance from NPS librarians (see Ask a Librarian link on the left hand menu)

 
 

NPS LIBRIS Guide

Once you arrive on the NPS LIBRIS home page, you can follow these instructions in order to find resources.

  1. Click “for researchers:” explore this page to see what you can accomplish in this online catalog.

  2. Hover over “Search” and click on “Advanced Search”

  3. Select Locations: Make Sure to use the pull-down menu to click on YOSE.

  4. Type your search information in the correct field above.

  5. Click Search.

  6. Look through the books listed. Click on the title you would like to find.

  7. If you are interested in checking out the book, make note of the call number and come to the library. You may also check books out via email and inter-park mail. Prior to checking out books, you must come into the library and complete the borrowing agreement.

  8. If you do not see the book you need in the Yosemite Research Library, you may also expand the search location. There is a possibility that we may be able to retrieve the book through Inter-Library Loan (ILL). If you find a book in another library, please email the Librarian with the ILL request.
