Working Together

Volunteers are an incredible asset to Acadia National Park where they help the park with a variety of projects including maintaining the famous carriage roads.

There are many ways that you can get involved with Acadia National Park and support the preservation and protection of the park for future generations. Together, we can make a difference.

During your visit:
  • Go car-free- ride the Island Explorer, walk or bike. Carpool, combine trips, and reduce driving. All of these actions reduce traffic, crowding, and the harmful emissions that contribute to global warming.
  • Practicing Leave No Trace Principles, like staying on marked trails and durable surfaces, will help park plants and animals survive.
  • Help scientists monitor change by contributing observations of plants, birds, and other wildlife via iNaturalist and eBird.
At home:
  • You can reduce your carbon emissions
  • You can also help the environment in your neighborhood by promoting public transportation, pedestrian and bicycle friendly infrastructure, planting native trees, shrubs, and flowers to ‘bee’ healthy
  • Bike, walk or take public transportation or carpool as much as possible
  • Help scientists monitor change by contributing observations of plants, birds, and other wildlife via iNaturalist and eBird.

If we act now, we have our greatest chance to ensure that:
