Mammoth Cave, KY.—Visitor services in the main hotel building at Mammoth Cave National Park will have electric power temporarily shut off on Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Impacts will be to visitors using the main hotel building’s food operations at Lantern Café, Green River Grill, and Maple Springs Coffee and Gifts, and retail shops. The park visitor center, cave tours, campground, and camp store will not be affected by the project, but the Old Guides Trail along with portions of the Heritage Trail next to the hotel will be closed. The temporary power outage is required for Kentucky Utilities (KU) to relocate a power line that stretches over the Family Cabin construction site. The outage may last as long as five hours but could be less depending on the complexity of the project. Visitor services will resume as soon as possible after the relocation is complete.
The powerline relocation is weather-dependent and will be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
Visit our Family Cabins Construction page to learn more about the ongoing concessions facilities improvement project near the hotel building.
