Family Cabins Project

The Family Cabins Project will bring additional lodging options to overnight guests at Mammoth Cave National Park.

New Lodging Options

The addition of new lodging options at Mammoth Cave National Park is nearly complete. The Family Cabin Construction Project has finished six of the eight cabins. These cabins are open for reservation through The Lodge at Mammoth Cave. The final two cabins are under construction and should be completed by spring 2027.

Each cabin will accommodate up to ten people. The cabins are located on the west side of the main hotel building between the newly renovated hotel building parking lot and the Heritage Trail.

Each cabin will feature both indoor and outdoor gathering spaces.

Improved Visitor Experience

The new accommodations improve the park experience for overnight guests since they allow families and large groups to stay in the same facility. Each cabin is equipped with a kitchen, living room, two restrooms, dining area, loft and outdoor gathering area. One of the cabins is Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) compliant.

The ongoing project has an estimated completion date of summer 2025.

Project Overview

ExplorUS, the in-park concessioner, is coordinating the physical construction of the cabins with Mammoth Cave National Park. This project is funded through a donation from National Park Concessions, Inc. (NPCI) and NPS Challenge Cost Share Funds.



The Family Cabin Construction project began in April 2024 and is estimated to be complete by summer 2025.
