Mammoth Cave National Park will host a volunteer cleanup event during the September 11 National Day of Service on Sunday, September 11 from 9 am to 3 pm CDT. The National Day of Service is an annual event that encourages volunteerism in local communities to honor the spirit of sacrifice made by so many individuals over 20 years ago during the 9/11 attacks.

Event volunteers will work alongside park staff to pick up litter along roadways, trails, and visitor use areas. They should meet at the picnic shelter in the main Mammoth Cave Picnic Area across the parking lot from the visitor center for check-in and orientation. Tools and safety gear will be provided, but volunteers should wear sturdy footwear, dress for outdoor weather conditions, and bring their own lunch.
