BRECKSVILLE, Ohio—At approximately 8:53 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2024, a Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) train derailed near Peninsula. Three cars came off the tracks but remained upright.

There were no injuries reported among the 588 passengers and crew members on board. CVSR is providing coach buses to transport passengers back to Rockside Station.

CVSR operates on tracks owned and maintained by the National Park Service in Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP). Safety remains the top priority for both organizations, and the incident is under investigation.

CVNP encompasses over 33,000 acres along the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland and Akron, Ohio.
