Fees & Passes

Big Thicket National Preserve does not charge entrance fees or user fees.

Free permits are required for camping and hunting, and are issued at the Big Thicket National Preserve Visitor Center. Please call (409) 951-6700 for more information.

Interagency Passes

We issue the following Interagency Passes at the Big Thicket National Preserve Visitor Center:

The Interagency Access Pass provides free entrance to many federal sites for citizens with a permanent disability.

The Interagency Access Pass is a free lifetime pass available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have a permanent disability. It covers entrance fees at sites managed by many federal agencies and provides a discount on some amenity fees, such as camping fees. More information...

2017 Annual Pass for Active Duty Military and Dependents
The Annual Pass for Military is a free pass for current U.S. military personnel and their dependents. It provides free entry into many federal lands for one year from the month of issuance. Military members must present a Department of Defense ID (CAC Card) to receive the pass. Their dependents must present a Dependent Card, DD Form 1173. More information...
The Every Kid in a Park pass provides free entry into many federal areas for 4th graders and their families.

The Every Kid in a Park Pass provides free entrance into many federal recreation areas, including national parks, for 4th graders and their families. Students must print a voucher from the Every Kid in a Park website and then exchange it for a pass. The pass is valid from September through August of the year that the student is in the 4th grade. We do not issue the Interagency Senior Pass or the Interagency Annual Pass at Big Thicket National Preserve. Our visitor center staff can assist you with finding the nearest site that issues these passes. Please call the visitor center at 409-951-6700 for more information.

Both of these passes can also be purchased online through the USGS store for an additional $10 fee.
