Most Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: Can I get a national park pass there? Do you sell the Senior or Annual America the Beautiful Pass at this location?A: Weir Farm NHP does not sell America the Beautiful Annual Pass or the Senior Pass since we are a fee free park. You can get the Annual Pass or Senior Pass online at https://store.usgs.gov/ or at another location. We do have the free Access Pass, Military/Veterans Pass, and Every Kid Outdoors Pass available during Visitor Center Hours – please bring the proper paperwork for these passes – info on that can be found here: https://store.usgs.gov/. Q: Where can I get my NPS passport stamped?A: You can visit the kiosk in the parking lot or the kiosk on the back porch of the Visitor Center anytime to find our passport stamp. Or get your stamp inside the Visitor Center when it’s open. Q: I am traveling in an RV or with a trailer, where can I park?A: Our parking lot cannot accommodate RV's, 5th wheel trailers, or oversized vehicles. Please do not pull into the parking lot at the park. There is an option for you to park off-site about 5-7 minutes away in the parking lot at G&B Cultural Center at 49 New Street, Wilton CT. Here is a MAP WITH DIRECTIONS to and from the park from the parking lot you can use to park your trailer/RV. If you have a car in tow, you can detach your vehicle and drive up to the park. Those traveling by RV that do not have a vehicle often park and call a taxi or use an app for car service to get up to the park. Q: What are the daily operating hours? What is available to see and do in the park?A: Park grounds and parking lot are open daily from sunrise to sunset. May through October, restrooms are open daily from 10am to 4pm with the exceptions of Memorial Day, Labor Day and Indigenous Peoples Day. The Visitor Center, Weir House and Weir and Young Studios are open on weekends in May and Wednesday to Sunday June through October. Tours of the House and Studios are offered at 11, 1, 2, and 3, and the visitor center is open 10-4. Take Part in Art with free to use art supplies provided during visitor center hours, or bring your own. The park and the Friends of Weir Farm offer many special activities and events like art classes and ranger-led hikes – check the Featured Programs Page or Calendar for information on those programs. Self-guiding options, including brochures, self guided tours, Junior Ranger programs, and Passport stamp are available on the back porch of the visitor center 7 days a week. Pets must be leashed and picked up after – there are 3 dog waste stations in the park. Please visit the Operating Hours and Seasons Page or Plan Your Visit resources for more information. Q: Is there a fee or timed entry requirement for Weir Farm?A: Weir Farm is a fee-free park and there is no cost to visit or participate in any of our free programs. Q: Are dogs allowed in the park?A: Yes - we love dogs! You are welcome to walk your dog at Weir Farm NHP and the neighboring Weir Preserve, the 110-acre network of hiking trails directly adjacent to the property, as long as it remains leashed. Please pick up after your pet - a pet waste station is located in the parking lot, at the Weir Pond trailhead, and behind the Burlingham Barn/Restrooms. And don’t forget to ask us about our new B.A.R.K. Ranger program when visiting with your pet! Tours, Programs, and Classes, Oh My!Q: How do I become a Junior Ranger? Do you have a junior ranger program?A: Become a Weir Farm Junior Ranger anytime! Complete the Explore!, Weir Pond Wonders, or Letterboxing activity at the park, or you can become a Junior Ranger from home by completing the Virtual Junior Ranger Program here on our website. The park keeps Junior Ranger materials on the back porch of the Visitor Center, so you can earn your Junior Ranger badge even during off-hours. Q: Where can I learn about special events happening at the park?A: Check the Featured Programs Page or Calendar for information on special programs like Stone Wall Tours, Family Fun Days, Artist-in-Residence Open Studios, Free Art Workshops, Pop-in Activities, and more! You can also sign up for the Friends of Weir Farm newsletter to receive their eflyers, which always include interesting articles and highlights about the Park and programs. Q: I want to register for an art workshop – when are your free art classes and how do I register for them?A: Most of the park’s programs are pop-in and do not require registration, but we do offer Impressionist Painting Workshops led by Dmitri Wright which do require registration. In 2025, we have workshops scheduled on June 14 (registration now open!) and September 14 (registration opens August 15). More information and the link to register can be found on our Featured Programs Page. Registration all happens online, so please do not call the park to register. Q: What time are the house tours and studio tours?A: Tours are offered Saturday and Sunday in May and Wednesday to Sunday June through October. Tours start at the Weir House at 11:00, 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00. Tours are limited to 12 people and are first come, first served, no registration required. As staffing permits, additional tours of the Studios may be offered between 10:00 and 3:00. Groups can email us to schedule a group tour, offered on weekday mornings. Please note that any group arriving in more than two cars requires a reservation. Q: I am planning a group meetup in the park, we don’t need any tours or programs, do we still need to make a reservation?A: Yes!
