SCRANTON, Pa. – Steamtown National Historic Site (NHS) recently participated in the annual federal government’s Feds Feed Families food drive to support local pantries. This year Steamtown NHS employees donated approximately 200 pounds of non-perishable food to the United Neighborhood Centers Food Pantry in Scranton. Administrative Support Assistant Aaron Sweetwood (pictured) coordinated the Steamtown NHS drive.Feds Feed Families was created to help food banks and pantries stay stocked during summer months when they traditionally see a decrease in donations and an increase in need. Through the amazing generosity of federal employees, the annual food drive has collected over 80 million pounds of food since the annual campaign began in 2009.
Located in downtown Scranton, Pa., Steamtown NHS is open daily from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. From I-81 follow exit 185 (Central Scranton Expressway); then follow the brown and white signs to the park entrance at Lackawanna Avenue and Cliff Street (GPS: N 41.41, W 75.67).
