Luray, VA – Shenandoah National Park announces the release of a new film that explores the significances of the natural history of the park, inspiring viewers and instilling a spirit of stewardship. The film “Shenandoah” will place the park in the context of its Appalachian Mountain ecosystem, illustrating connections between the national park and the formations, migrations, and transformations that happen there.

This 24-minute film will premiere in Byrd Visitor Center (mile 51) this fall and Dickey Ridge Visitor Center (mile 4.6) in spring 2025. The collaborative project, years in the making, was a joint effort of Orange Frame Productions and Shenandoah National Park staff, supported by recreational fee dollars.

“It is important we continue to share not only the beauty of the park's natural landscape but also the biological wonders that thrive in the Appalachian Mountains," said Superintendent Tracy Stakely. “I am excited about the new connections this film will create for visitors.”

A longer version of “Shenandoah” will be available for Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) to reach national audiences.
