MINERAL, CA — The Manzanita Lake Camper Store, operated by authorized concessioner ExplorUs, is scheduled to open on June 1. Located at the entrance to the Manzanita Lake Campground in the northwest section of the park, the Camper Store offers ready-to-go meals and picnic supplies, such as hot and cold sandwiches, snacks, basic grocery items, hot and cold beverages, and ice cream. The Camper Store will be open from June 1 through mid-October.Visitors are advised to prepare for the Memorial Day weekend by obtaining fuel, goods, and services prior to arriving at Lassen Volcanic National Park. The nearby communities of Shingletown and Old Station, both roughly 20 minutes by car from the Manzanita Lake area, provide necessities and amenities for visitors looking to stock up to enjoy their recreation and exploration of the park.
From the northwest entrance of the park, visitors will be able to drive ten miles on the park highway to the Devastated Area parking lot. From the southwest entrance of the park, visitors will be able to drive one mile to Sulphur Works. The rest of park highway 89 remains closed due to snow as road crews continue plowing operations. Starting May 24, the historic Loomis Museum will be open Fridays through Sundays from 9:00am – 5:00pm. Visitors will be able to obtain information, learn about ranger programs, and view the park film. The Loomis Residence store, an official non-profit partner of Lassen Volcanic National Park, is open daily 10:00am – 4:00pm with hours increasing after Memorial Day weekend. The store has a wide range of books, maps, educational gifts, and other items for sale.
Ranger-led programs will be offered starting on May 24. Be sure to check the park website and calendar for ranger programs or visit the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center or Loomis Museum for updates.
