Visit the park museums and exhibits to learn more about the history of Harpers Ferry. The Place in Time Museum and the John Brown Museum both have films that begin every half an hour. Take in the view at “The Point” to see the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. Privately-owned shops and restaurants are located nearby.Receive a ranger-led education program! Discover Harpers Ferry through a curriculum-based education program led by a park ranger. Find out more information about these programs below. Take a hike! Popular hiking trails for school groups include Jefferson Rock (0.3 miles roundtrip- steep/strenuous), Virginius Island (1.5 miles roundtrip- easy/moderate), or the Maryland Heights Cliff Overlook (4.2 miles roundtrip- steep/strenuous). Complete a scavenger hunt! Prior to your field trip, email us and ask for the latest version of the scavenger hunt. Remember to bring enough printed copies, pencils, and clipboards for your group.
