This month, Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site will participate in a teen summit through a collaborative partnership with the National Alliance of Faith and Justice Pen or Pencil Movement, the Pine Bluff Faith Community Coalition Ministerial Alliance and the 400 Years of African American History Commission.
Students from the Little Rock School District (Central High, Southwest High, West High and Dunbar Junior High) and Pine Bluff School District have been selected to partner with STRONGER THAN, a special emphasis campaign that recognizes and celebrates the strength, courage, and resilience of women across diverse dimensions - historical and present day, sung and unsung.
In March, film crews in Little Rock and Pine Bluff will record conversations that capture the issues these students feel they are STRONGER THAN - bullying, pain, discouragement, fear, etc. – to be incorporated into a music video as well as a short film. Other contributors to this project include Elizabeth Eckford, a member of the Little Rock Nine; Agnolia Gay, education and community liaison; Dr. Sybil Jordan Hampton, the first African American three-year graduate of Central High School; and Robin White, the Superintendent of Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site.
This digital content will feature "Stronger Than” a song by the Grammy Award-winning lead singer of 'The Sounds of Blackness," Coré S. Cotton. The music video and short film will be released on Mother’s Day in May 2022.
