Central High School NHS to host public event on book banning

Central High School National Historic Site will host “The Impact of Banning Books,” a panel conversation to explore book banning, past and present, and the impact of laws and regulations that restrict access to literature today.

The free public program will be held at the Darragh Center Auditorium in the Central Arkansas Library System Main Library (100 South Rock Street in Little Rock) on Saturday, August 26 at 1:00 p.m.

Panelists on the program include Nate Coulter, executive director of the Central Arkansas Library System; David Dennis Jr., journalist and co-author of The Movement Made Us; Tiffeni Fontno, director of the Peabody Library at Vanderbilt University; and Tracie D. Hall, executive director of the American Library Association.

Patrick M. Oliver, founder of Say It Loud! Readers and Writers, LLC, will moderate the panel and Dr. James D. Ross, Associate Professor of History at UA Little Rock, will provide opening remarks.
