Notes: He was tall with dark hair and a scar between his eyebrows. He was ordained on Whitsunday's Eve in 1719. He served as a parish priest in Switzerland and entered La Compania de Jesus on October 9, 1725. He came to New Spain in 1730 with twenty-six other missionaries. He went first to Carichic Mission among the Tarahumaras in 1731. After Grazhoffers death at Guevavi he went to Bac, and Segesser went from Bac to Guevavi. After Segesser left Guevavi, Stiger ministered Guevavi from Bac. When Campos was removed from San Ignacio and after Segesser had served there for nearly a year, Stiger replaced him and stayed twenty-five years until his death there. He was buried in the sanctuary in front of the main altar on the Gospel side by Padre Pauer. |
