SCRANTON, Pa. – Steamtown National Historic Site is pleased to partner with the National Park Foundation and “The Mission Continues” in offering a six-month part-time fellowship at the park for a qualifying post-9/11 U.S. Armed Forces veteran. Application must be made through “The Mission Continues” website no later than Thursday, July 27.The selected veteran will serve from October 15 until April 14, 2018, working 20 hours per week. The individual will be responsible for conducting visitor orientation, interpretive program development and presentation, education program support, museum and archives support, and special projects implementation and execution. Work is performed both indoor and outdoor in a dynamic environment that requires, among other qualities, the ability to: work independently or as part of a team; stand, walk, and talk for long periods; the ability to climb on and off rail equipment; and have positive interactions with visitors. Although housing is not provided, you can develop valuable personal skills while also supporting the National Park Service mission of preserving America’s special places. Located in downtown Scranton, Pa., Steamtown NHS is open daily from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. From I-81 follow exit 185 (Central Scranton Expressway); then, follow the brown and white signs to the park entrance at Lackawanna and Cliff Avenues (GPS: N 41.41, W 75.67).
