Temporary Job Opportunity

Shenandoah National Park is seeking qualified persons to work in the Sanitation and Building and Utilities group of the Maintenance Division.
This position is located in the Buildings, Utilities & Sanitation Unit, within the Division of Maintenance at Shenandoah National Park. The duty station is the Big Meadows Maintenance Area or at Park Headquarters. The primary duties of the position involve multiple trades and crafts, including but not limited to carpentery, painting, roofing, and minor electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and sanitation. The Building and Utilities Supervisor supervises the incumbent. The primary purpose of this position is to help with maintenance and repairs to buildings, and utilities, and sanitation.
The duties include cleaning comfort stations, restrooms, visitor centers, and campgrounds, and trash collection. Performs minor carpentry repairs using simple measures and hand tools on such tasks as replacing broken planks on picnic tables; broken windows using precut stock; minor adjustments or replacing hinges, latches and catches and replacing roofing material.
Performs minor painting using brush and roller according to specific instructions on projects where appearances are not critical such as staining picnic tables and trash barrels.
Performs minor plumbing repairs such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures and with minor plumbing, electrical repairs as needed, and refers problems to higher-graded workers.
Operates a light truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites while cleaning park facilities.
