World Ranger Day Commemoration on July 31, 2023

POINT REYES STATION, Calif. – Point Reyes National Seashore is hosting an event on Monday, July 31, 2023, 10 am–11:30 am, to commemorate World Ranger Day. Each year, World Ranger Day is observed on July 31 to honor the daily work of rangers, and to remember those rangers killed or injured in the line of duty.

The event will remember fallen rangers, including Point Reyes National Seashore ranger Kenneth C. Patrick and California State park ranger Richard Schnurr. Kenneth Patrick was killed in the line of duty at Point Reyes National Seashor on August 5, 1973.

The event will also include a visiting delegation of park rangers from Point Reyes' sister park, Kolkheti National Park, located in the country of Georgia.

This event is free and open to the public and will be held at Kenneth C. Patrick Visitor Center at Drakes Beach.
