Picnicking

Enjoy lunch at any of the scenic spots along the park highway, or find a picnic table at the following locations (table quantity varies):

  • Loomis Plaza

  • Manzanita Lake Day Use Area

  • Summit Lake northern shore

  • Kings Creek Picnic Area (charcoal disposal available)

  • Lake Helen

  • Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center

  • Butte Lake (charcoal grills available)

Food Service

Enjoy a meal or pick up a picnic supplies at one of three in-park locations, all managed by park concessioner Lassen Lodging. Find menus and hours on the Lassen Lodging concessioner’s website.

Manzanita Lake Camper Store

Located at the entrance of Manzanita Lake Campground, the Camper Store offers ready-to-go meals and picnic supplies such as hot and cold sandwiches, snacks, basic grocery items, hot and cold beverages, and ice cream.

Lassen Café & Gift

Located inside Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center, Lassen Cafe & Gift offers soups, salads, fresh fruits, hot or cold sandwiches, as well as a variety of beverages (including espresso drinks) and soft-serve ice cream. Dine outside on the patio with views of the surrounding peaks or cozy up in the indoor dining area in front of the fireplace.

Drakesbad Guest Ranch

Located in Warner Valley, Drakesbad Guest Ranch offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the historic dining hall. Reservations are required and availability is limited for people not staying at the ranch.

Outside the Park

Various dining options are available in the towns of Mineral and Chester (south of park), and Shingletown and Old Station (north of park). Hours may vary by season.

Campgrounds

The park has eight campgrounds open seasonally: 5 located along Highway 89 and one in each outlying area of the park.

Backpacking

Backcountry camping is allowed year-round in Lassen’s wilderness. A free Wilderness Permit is required.

Lodging

Lodging within the park is managed by the park’s concessioner. Alternate lodging may be available in nearby towns outside the park.

Manzanita Lake Cabins/Glamping

Rustic cabins and tent cabins within Manzanita Lake Campground in the northwest part of the park. Reservations are required. Learn more on lassenlodging.com and reserve at recreation.gov.

Drakesbad Guest Ranch

The 2021 Dixie Fire significantly impacted Drakesbad Guest Ranch; the ranch plans to open for the 2025 summer season.  Located in Warner Valley, this historic guest ranch offers overnight accommodations in the lodge, cabins, and bungalows; gourmet meals in the dining hall; soaks a hydrothermal spring fed pool; and a variety of activities.
