Park Planning and Project Information

Planning plays an important role in protecting the unique natural and cultural resources and facilities at Joshua Tree National Park. Park planners work with other park staff, outside experts, and interested members of the public to develop plans that ensure the thoughtful management and lasting legacy of our park resources. Click on the links below to get the latest news about proposed projects, to learn more about projects the park is currently planning, and projects the park has completed.

Joshua Tree has several projects currently in the planning process. Project planning usually goes thru two planning phases:
  • Early Concept, Pre-design, and Scoping
  • Design Development and Compliance Review
Both these phases need to be completed before the project is implemented (begin construction or management action). Click on the project below to learn about the project's planning status.
