Things to know about the Houghton Visitor Center:

• Check the visitor center operating hours prior to your visit.
• It is the home port for the park ferry, Ranger III.
• Private boaters can obtain their boating permit at the visitor center for their visit prior to heading out to the island.
• Only Checks and Credit Cards are accepted when paying park entrance fees or Ranger III transportation fees.
• Interagency passes can be purchased or obtained.
• A 25 minute park orientation video is available upon request
• The Park Store is always open during regular business hours.
• Ask to participate in the park's Junior Ranger Program.
