Hot Springs, AR - For the next 6 months, crews will be working to restabilize the banks along Whittington Creek on the West side of Whittington Park. Work on the project will begin on Friday, October 13 and is expected to continue through March 11, 2024, while the historic rock walls along the bank are deconstructed, reinforced, and replaced.

The entire west end of Whittington Park will be closed for the duration of the project to all pedestrian traffic from the bridge directly in front of the Maintenance building all the way to the end of the park (near Woodfin St.) along both sides of the creek. Fencing will be placed around the construction area for visitor safety. The rest of Whittington Park will remain accessible and open to pedestrians.

Vehicular traffic will be intermittently affected while supplies are loaded and unloaded, and parking along Whittington Avenue is also expected to be limited while crews are at work from 7:00am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

For questions or additional information, please contact the park’s Public Information Officer, Ashley Waymouth.
