Hot Springs National Park is planning to conduct a burn of accumulated vegetation in the area of Blacksnake Road the week of April 22, 2019.

Over the last several years hazard tree removal throughout the park has created a large accumulation of vegetation that needs to be eliminated. “Fuel reduction is the primary reason for conducting the pile burning operations, and these operations are carefully planned, using very specific weather and personnel guidelines to protect public safety while achieving resource management objectives,” said Park Superintendent Laura Miller.

Although little or no impacts to the public are expected, people who are sensitive to smoke may want to avoid outside activities on the days during pile burning operations.
