Muir Woods Parking and Shuttle Reservations Now Required

MILL VALLEY, Calif. Following a multi-year planning process, a parking and shuttle reservation system for Muir Woods National Monument goes into effect today.

All vehicles and shuttle passengers arriving to Muir Woods will be subject to the reservation system. The system, managed by Ace Parking Management, Inc., operates year-round and reservations can be made through the website, GoMuirWoods.com, or by calling 1-800-410-2419.

“The reservation system will allow us to proactively manage visitation to provide a safer and more enjoyable experience for visitors and better protection for the trees,” says Laura Joss, general superintendent of Golden Gate National Recreation Area. “Making a parking or shuttle reservation is quick and easy, and will allow visitors to spend time in the forest, rather than circling the parking lot looking for a space.”

Parking and shuttle reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance on a rolling basis. Visitors have the option to reserve either a vehicle parking space for $8 per car or a seat on the shuttle for $3 per adult (16 years and older). The shuttle runs every weekend and during peak visitation periods throughout the year. Visitors must download or print their parking or shuttle reservation in advance as there is no Wi-Fi or cell phone service at or near Muir Woods.

A vehicle or shuttle reservation provides the visitor with a timed arrival with no restriction on the length of stay for the remainder of the day. Visitors age 16 or older are required to pay a $10 park admission entrance fee in addition to any parking or shuttle reservation fees.

Commercial carriers will be required to make advance reservations through a separate system managed through recreation.gov. Reservations for commercial parking spaces are required beginning May 15, 2018. For more information on the commercial carrier reservation system click here.
