Following guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local public health authorities, George Washington Birthplace National Monument is increasing recreational access. The National Park Service continues to work servicewide with federal, state, and local public health authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and is using a phased approach to increase access on a park-by-park basis.

Planning ahead is important

  • Plan your activities so that you can maintain social distancing
  • Bring everything you'll need with you including, water, snacks, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, bug spray, and a face mask
  • Discover things to do in the park
  • Check out virtual opportunities to explore the park

Visit responsibly

  • Most importantly, if you feel sick...stay home!
  • Practice social distancing by maintaining a space at least six feet from others, and wear a face mask when social distancing cannot be maintained. The CDC has offered guidance to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases while enjoying the outdoors.
  • Do not attempt to access areas that are closed. They are closed for your safety.
  • If a parking area is full, please don't park in the grass or along the road.
