GETTYSBURG, PA – Eisenhower National Historic Site (NHS) announces a full closure of the site for three days, from Monday, April 24 to Wednesday, April 26, to construct an expansion of the visitor parking area. A full closure is necessary to maintain safety standards for visitors and park staff and protect park resources.

During the closure period, the visitor parking lot will be expanded. This work prohibits the use of the existing parking area while the expansion is constructed. “The visiting public has taken full advantage of our new policy, beginning this past April 1, to drive directly to the Eisenhower farm. Their enthusiasm has created a pressing need to quickly expand the on-site parking. Unfortunately, there are no other suitable areas for temporary parking that wouldn’t result in safety concerns and resource damage,” says Superintendent Steven D. Sims.

The public parking lot construction is scheduled to take three days barring any temporary weather delays or unforeseen circumstances. Only pre-approved groups arriving to the site via shuttle bus remains authorized.
