Brochure Maps

To view the park's official brochure map, use the drop-down menu in the upper left corner of the map below to change the selection from "Standard Map" to "Brochure Map". The "Standard Map" option displays an interactive map where you can click on points of interest to read more. In addition to the digital brochure map, text-only, audio-described, and Braille versions of the park brochure are also available.

Above: An overview map to help you locate Denali within Alaska, and some of the major landmarks (campgrounds, visitor facilities) within the park. You can zoom in or out as needed. There is only one road entrance into the park. From this entrance, where the Denali Park Road meets Alaska Highway 3, it is about 120 miles north to Fairbanks and 237 miles south to Anchorage.

The Denali Park Road is 92 miles, running from east to west. Locations on the road are usually referred to by their mile number, meaning how many miles they are from the eastern end (the park entrance, Mile 0). The meeting of the Denali Park Road and Highway 3 (i.e., the park entrance) sits 237 miles north of Anchorage and 120 miles south of Fairbanks.

Tour and Transit Bus Routes

Each bus route in Denali travels the park's sole road, turning around at a specific location. The routes are detailed below. Buses are operated by our concessioner and you can make reservations online.

Narrated Tour Buses

Tour buses are narrated. Trips vary in duration and how far they go into the park before turning around.

  • The Denali Natural History Tour turns around at Primrose Ridge (Mile 17).
  • The Tundra Wilderness Tour turns around near the East Fork River (Mile 42).

Non-Narrated Transit Buses

Transit buses are not narrated. They make all the same bathroom and wildlife-viewing stops as a tour bus. You can get on and off transit buses to hike and explore the park at your own pace.

  • All transit buses travel to the East Fork River (Mile 43).

Scenes from the Denali Park Road

The map below illustrates a handful of the great views you can expect from the Denali Park Road. The map is not exhaustive—Denali is almost as big as Massachusetts, or Switzerland, so great views can be found on an adventure anywhere in the park. Use the full-screen button (upper right corner of the map) to get a better glimpse of the photos contained in each point of the map.
