Drop-In Opportunities

Share your time and talent by helping to preserve biodiversity in Cuyahoga Valley National Park! Work closely with a small group of dedicated staff and volunteers on a project that inspires you. Drop-ins provide a wonderful opportunity for both first-time and veteran volunteers.

Advanced registration required. Calendar listings include a registration link. For groups of five or more people, please sign-up directly with the volunteer office by emailing volunteer@forcvnp.org.

Types of Drop-In Opportunities

Invasive Plant Removal

Remove invasive vegetation and improve habitat for native plants and animals. You will use hand tools such as loppers and saws. Suitable for ages 10 and up. Read more below about youth participant requirements.

Native Plantings

Help create less fragmented habitat for wildlife by planting native trees, shrubs, and flowers. Suitable for ages 7 and up. Read more below about youth participant requirements.

Native Seed Collection

Help collect seeds to be grown in the park’s native plant nursery. You will hike a short distance to the project site. Suitable for all ages. Read more below about youth participant requirements.

What You Will Need

Youth ages 10 to 15 are welcome with parent or guardian supervision. Youth ages 16 to 17 will need a completed volunteer agreement form signed by a parent or guardian.

Wear comfortable work clothes, long pants, and sturdy shoes or boots (must be closed toe). Bring your completed volunteer agreement, a hat, sunscreen, a pack with a full water bottle, and a snack/lunch. We will provide work gloves, safety glasses, and all necessary tools and supplies. Instruction and safety guidelines will be provided on-site. All participants must follow safety guidelines. Projects are rain or shine, with the exception of thunderstorms and lightning.
