Why a Writer-in-Residence at Carl Sandburg Home NHS This program offers writers an opportunity to live and work at Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site. The three-week residency commences during April. Housing is offered in an historic cottage near the Sandburg Home. The program is targeted at early-career writers. In addition to uninterrupted writing time, the residencies offer opportunities for service at Carl Sandburg Home NHS and in the local community, for presentation of workshops or readings, and for literary projects of their own in the region, where there is a vibrant literary community. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, outgoing, interested in multiple aspects of the literary field, and has a desire to engage with the community. This program is made possible through support from the Friends of Carl Sandburg at Connemara. Learn How to Become a Writer-in-Residence here.
