Whitin's Patent Pick and Spreader, the basis of the Whitin Machine Works


Your tour begins at the James Fletcher Homestead (1 Elm Place), now the Northbridge Historical Society. This house was built in 1770 by Colonel James Fletcher. Fletcher set up the first iron forge in the community, and later helped establish the first cotton mill here.
