South Campground is located near Zion’s South Entrance, within walking distance of the Zion Canyon Visitor Center, the Zion Canyon Shuttle System, and the town of Springdale. The campground is one of three developed campgrounds in the park available for reservations, including Watchman and Lava Point Campgrounds.
South Campground reservations are available up to 14 days before arrival. The NPS expects reservations to fill quickly, especially during the busy summer season, so visitors should check availability before traveling to the park.
Campers should plan ahead and review park campground regulations before arriving. Regulations include:
- Check-in begins at noon, and check-out is 11 a.m.
- Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
- Generator use is only allowed from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Food, trash, toiletries, pet food, and other scented items must be stored properly or disposed of in appropriate receptacles.
- Pets are allowed in developed campgrounds but must be restrained and may not create unreasonable noise.
South Campground is expected to remain open through summer and fall before closing for the winter season. Updates will be posted on the park website and Zion National Park social media channels.
