SPRINGDALE, UT – Zion National Park officials learned that the body found today was that of Pradeep Beryl Solomon, the 35-year-old man who went missing while visiting the park on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Mr. Solomon was from Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mr. Solomon had told friends that he was visiting Zion National Park and was planning on hiking Angels Landing on April 16. His roommate reported him missing at 2:30 p.m. on April 17, after he had failed to return home. Rangers started looking for Mr. Solomon that afternoon and were able to locate his vehicle in the park’s visitor center parking lot.

This morning, April 18, Zion’s Search and Rescue crew started a methodical search, focusing around the base of Angels Landing. Mr. Solomon’s body was found below the north side of the hiking route.

The injuries sustained were consistent with a high elevation fall, probably from the Angels Landing Trail, according to the preliminary investigation. The Washington County Sherriff’s Office is the primary investigating agency. More information may be available once the investigation is complete.

Our deepest condolences go out to the Solomon family and friends," comments Jeff Bradybaugh, Superintendent of Zion National Park. "We are all deeply saddened by this outcome."
