Jemez Springs, NM – National Volunteer Week starts today and runs through April 27. Valles Caldera National Preserve is honored to have wonderful volunteers who enhance every aspect of the park. We are very grateful to everyone who volunteers, or has volunteered, at the park.

We invite you to join us! We are looking for volunteer support in welcoming visitors, conducting plant surveys, supporting education programs and media development, helping with trails projects, assisting hydrologic research, and searching for dendroglyphs.

Check out volunteer positions that are now accepting applicants by visiting the park’s Volunteer web page (https://www.nps.gov/vall/getinvolved/volunteer.htm).

“I want to reach out and thank all of Valles Caldera’s volunteers, whether you came up for a day to help during National Public Lands Day in September or are a long-time volunteer,” said Superintendent Jorge Silva-Bañuelos. “We are honored that you have given your time and energy to support the park and make it a welcoming place for all to come and enjoy.”

Valles Caldera National Preserve | About 1.2 million years ago, a spectacular volcanic eruption created the 14-mile-wide circular depression now known as Valles Caldera. The park is known for its huge mountain meadows, abundant wildlife, and meandering streams. The area also preserves the homeland of ancestral native peoples and embraces a rich cultural history.
