Jemez Springs, NM – Valles Caldera is seeking to commission illustrations for the park’s upcoming Junior Ranger program booklet. The NPS Junior Ranger program is an activity-based program offering young visitors the opportunity to join the National Park Service "family" as Junior Rangers.

The NPS is seeking artists to create 12 background illustrations, 4 smaller landscape or topical illustrations, 3 black-and-white landscape sketches, 3 map-based illustrations, and 3 timeline- or chart-based illustrations. The target audience for these illustrations is youth ages 5 to 13. Illustration themes include volcanic processes, high-elevation ecosystems and wildlife, scenes of Valles Caldera, cultural history, sustainable practices, climate change, wildfires, and geographic maps. All commissioned artwork would become property of the National Park Service.
