Celebrating 1/2 Millionth Visitor to the Preserve

News Release Date: October 3, 2019 Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve achieved a milestone in its nearly 23 year history by welcoming its 500,000^th visitor to the park on Thursday, October 3, 2019.

As part of a group of Danish high school students who are staying in Emporia with host families as part of a short-term visit organized by Emporia State University’s Office of International Education, Klara Stingsted from Vejle, Denmark was more than a little surprised, but grateful, when she found out she was the park’s 500,000^th visitor. As part of the celebration, Klara received a copy of the park’s DVD and a book of photographs highlighting America’s national parks. Servings of cake for the public rounded out the celebration. Congratulations and thank you, Klara!
