SCRANTON, Pa. – Steamtown National Historic Site has a full schedule of train rides scheduled for this summer, beginning our July schedule with a trip to the Mid Valley's "Queen City Nights" event in Olyphant, Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 9.

The roundtrip excursion to Olyphant's event includes time to tour the historic town, as well as to support Olyphant's Hose Company #2 and Queen City Hose Company #8, two of five of the town's volunteer fire companies. Purchase a bite to eat, enjoy children's entertainment, and some of the included entertainment. The train departs the Steamtown Boarding Platform at 1:30 p.m. and is scheduled to return at 6:00 p.m. Ticket pricing is $24 for adults, ages 16-61, $22 for seniors, ages 62 and older, $17 for children ages 6-15. Children to age 5 require a free ticket.

Sunday, July 10, join us aboard an excursion to Moscow, Pennsylvania. Visit the restored passenger station and freight depot. Light refreshments and souvenirs will also be available at Moscow Station stop. Sales support the restoration of the park's Boston & Maine #3713 steam locomotive. The excursion departs at 12:30 p.m. and returns at 3:00 p.m. Ticket pricing is $24 for adults, ages 16-61, $22 for seniors, ages 62 and older, $17 for children ages 6-15. Children to age 5 require a free ticket.

Saturday, July 16, we'll venture to Gouldsboro, Pennsylvania for a roundtrip excursion departing the Steamtown Boarding Platform at 11:00 a.m. and returning at 3:00 p.m. Step back to the Roaring 1920s at the historic Gouldsboro train station. Food, drink, books and souvenirs will be available for purchase. The trip departs at 11:00 a.m. and is scheduled to return at 3:00 p.m. Ticket pricing is $34 for adults, ages 16-61, $29 for seniors, ages 62 and older, $22 for children ages 6-15. Children to age 5 require a free ticket.

Sunday, July 17 will see an excursion trip to Moscow, Pennsylvania. On Saturday, July 23, enjoy a roundtrip excursion to Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania. We'll journey along the former Delaware, Lackawanna &Western Railroad's (DL&W) mainline to the railroad station along the line's highest elevation and take a walking tour to a former "ice house" nearby. The train departs Steamtown at 11:00 a.m., and is scheduled to return at 3:00 p.m. Ticket pricing is $34 for adults, ages 16-61, $29 for seniors, ages 62 and older, $22 for children ages 6-15. Children to age 5 require a free ticket.

July 24, enjoy a Sunday afternoontrain ride to Cresco, Pennsylvania in the Pocono Mountains. The restored depot preserves aspects of life in the early days of the Poconos. Activities at the depot include live guitar music and light refreshments and a car show, featuring historic cars of yesteryear, is also planned for exhibit, weather-permitting. The train departs Steamtown's Boarding Platform at 11:30 a.m. and is scheduled to return at approximately 4:00 p.m. Ticket pricing is $34 for adults, ages 16-61, $29 for seniors, ages 62 and older, $22 for children ages 6-15. Children to age 5 require a free ticket. Limited seating is available for an additional $25 per person, all ages, aboard our Lehigh Valley "Black Diamond" #353 Business Car. This 1916 car, painted in the Lehigh Valley's original "Cornell Red" paint, the car has been well-maintained and updated several times through its life. While new features, such as wheel-sets, air-conditioning, music and some furnishings have been added, the car's interior was last restored to its 1920s-1940s luxurious appearance in 1997.

On Saturday, July 30, we'll travel to East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Get a taste of the history of the former DL&W Railroad with tours of the historic East Stroudsburg tower. Enjoy the hospitability that East Stroudsburg has to offer; food and music will also be available during our visit. We depart Steamtown's Boarding Platform at 9:00 a.m. and are scheduled to return at 5:00 p.m. Ticket pricing is $34 for adults, ages 16-61, $49 for seniors, ages 62 and older, and $32 for children ages 6-15. Children to age 5 require a free ticket. Limited seating is also available for an additional $25 per person, all ages, aboard our Lehigh Valley #353 Business Car.

To end July's excursion schedule, on Sunday, July 31 we'll again travel to Moscow, Pennsylvania. Visit the restored passenger station and freight depot. All excursions will be powered with historic diesel locomotives. Excursion fares include the park Entrance Fee, which is $7.00 per adult, daily, ages 16 and older. Children ages 15 and younger, accompanied by an adult, are admitted to the Park at no cost. All walking tours offered by the Steamtown NHS staff, including museum access and the park movie, "Steel and Steam," are included in the park's Entrance Fee. Reservations must be pre-paid, and tickets are non-refundable unless an excursion is cancelled by Park Management. The popular "Scranton Limited" short train rides will operate daily, Monday through Saturday, during July and again in August at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. On Sundays we offer the "Nay Aug Gorge Limited" short train rides that transports visitors to the entrance of Nay Aug Tunnel on the same schedule. Tickets to ride either train cost $5.00 per person, all ages 6 and older. Staff-led walking tours will also be available daily.

Located in downtown Scranton, Pa., Steamtown NHS is open daily from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. From I-81 follow exit 185 (Central Scranton Expressway); then, follow the brown and white signs to the park entrance at Lackawanna and Cliff Avenues (GPS: N 41.41, W 75.67).
