Petrified Forest National Park Science and Education Center Lecture Series, May 2008

Petrified Forest— Biologist Erika Nowak of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff will be providing a presentation titled “Milksnakes at Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona: Implications for monitoring rare vertebrates” as part of the park’s ongoing Science and Education Center Lecture Series. The lecture will discuss dedicated milksnake research efforts over the past two years, as well as the results of NPS staff and our monitoring for the species since 1997, and discuss implications of the work for future researchers and park staff. The presentation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7 and will be held at the Painted Desert Visitor Center Auditorium in Petrified Forest National Park. The visitor center is located at Exit 311 on Interstate Highway 40. This presentation is open to the public and admission is free.

The Petrified Forest National Park Science and Education Center was established to bring park visitors and researchers together to foster understanding and appreciation of the natural and cultural resources of the park and the Colorado Plateau. Lectures are held the first Wednesday of each month on a variety of topics including geology, paleontology, archaeology, and biology.
