Following guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local public health authorities, Nicodemus National Historic Site is increasing recreational access. The National Park Service (NPS) has been working servicewide with federal, state, and local public health authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beginning Thursday, March 18, 2021 Nicodemus National Historic Site (NHS) will reopen access to:
• Township Hall Visitor Center (VC). Hours of operation,
Thursday-Monday from 9:00 am-5:00 pm.
Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
In addition, the following outdoor spaces continue to be available:
• Township historic site grounds to view (St. Francis Hotel, A.M.E Church, District No. 1 School, Old First Baptist Church).
The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and partners continues to be paramount. At Nicodemus National Historic Site, our operational approach is to ensure public accessed facilities and operations comply with current public health guidance to be regularly monitored, avoid crowding and
high risk indoor/outdoor activities. We continue to work closely with the NPS Office of Public Health using CDC guidance to ensure public and workspaces are safe and clean for visitors, employees, partners, and volunteers.
To protect the health of those who live, work, and visit national parks and National Park Service (NPS) facilities, and in support of President Biden’s Executive Order on Protecting the Federal Workforce and Requiring Mask-Wearing, NPS is immediately implementing a mask requirement for employees, visitors, partners and contractors. At Nicodemus NHS, face masks are required in all park buildings and facilities. Masks are also required on NPS-managed lands when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
The CDC has offered guidance to help people recreating in parks and open spaces prevent the spread of infectious diseases. We will continue to monitor all park functions to ensure visitors adhere to CDC guidance for mitigating risks associated with the transmission of COVID-19 and take any additional steps necessary to protect public health.
For more information please call 785-839-4233 or you may visit the park website at www.nps.gov/nico. Details and updates on park operations will continue to be posted on the park website and social media channels. Updates about NPS operations will be posted on www.nps.gov/coronavirus.
