The National Park Service (NPS), in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) to examine alternative actions and environmental impacts associated with the proposed project to drill a well to supply water to the Lost Creek Campground and Volcano Adventure Camp. The project is needed to develop a groundwater source to replace the surface water system that now supplies the campgrounds to provide a consistent supply of high-quality drinking water to these campgrounds during their operating season.
NPS Regional Director for Interior Regions 8, 9, 10, and 12, Frank Lands, and Lassen Volcanic National Park Superintendent, Jim Richardson have signed the FONSI, which is available for review at the following Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) website: https://pepc.nps.gov/projectHome.cfm?projectId=94370.
