Contact: Darlene M. Koontz, 530-595-6102 MINERAL, CA - Lassen Volcanic National Park entrance fees will be waived during the Presidents Day weekend, February 15-17. “The park is finally beginning to look like winter with the recent storm that brought snow to the park’s higher elevations,” stated Park Superintendent, Darlene M. Koontz. “Snow conditions are favorable for cross country skiing and snowshoeing, but slopes can be icy for backcountry skiers.” There is still a lack of snow in the Manzanita Lake area, so there will be ranger-led walks around the lake on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Anyone interested in joining the walk, please meet at the Loomis Ranger Station located approximately ½ mile from the park’s northwest entrance. |
