Lassen Volcanic National Park Partner, the Lassen Association, Receives Financial Contribution from Sierra Pacific Foundation

Superintendent Mary G. Martin is pleased to announce that the Sierra Pacific Foundation has made a significant contribution of $5,000 to the Lassen Association’s fundraising campaign for the new park visitor center. Sierra Pacific Foundation community relations manager, Mark Lathrop, presented a check to Lassen Volcanic National Park’s long time non-profit, educational partner this past week. These funds will be used for the educational retail space in the new Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center scheduled to begin construction this spring. “Our communities benefit from local businesses coming together and working towards our common goal to provide quality land management. We have taken another step towards this goal,” stated Lassen Association Chairman, Judd Hanna.

To learn how you can contribute towards the success of other association programs and projects, please contact the Lassen Association business office at (530)595-3399.

“Contributions enable us to help the park in the preservation and protection of its resources through providing educational opportunities to visitors which lead to the stewardship of the park today and by future generations,” said Hanna. Since 1939, the Lassen Association has worked cooperatively with the National Park Service to provide financial assistance in support of educational and interpretive programs and projects in the park. The association operates educational and interpretive retail outlets within the park, publishes park-specific books, videos, brochures, and the park newspaper, Peak Experiences.

For more information, please contact the park at (530) 595-4444, Monday through Friday, except holidays, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or visit the park website at www.nps.gov/lavo.
