National Park Service Honors U. S. Veterans and Members of the U. S. Armed Forces at Lassen Volcanic National Park
Beginning November 11 on Veterans Day weekend, U.S. veterans, members of the U.S. armed forces and their families will be admitted free of charge to most public lands managed by the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture.
“The National Park Service has the honor of preserving many places that represent the best of our country’s natural and cultural heritage. Many sites commemorate and honor the service of American veterans throughout our history,” stated Park Superintendent Mary G. Martin. “We hope that veterans and members of the armed forces and their families will visit Lassen Volcanic National Park and other national park sites as we honor them for their service and the sacrifices they have made for our great country.”
Entrance fees will be waived at National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Forest Service areas. This annual fee-free day will always be held on November 11, regardless of the day of the week or the observed holiday. This new fee-free day has been established in addition to National Public Lands Day, held annually in September.
For more information, please contact the park at (530) 595-4444 Monday through Friday, except holidays, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or visit the park website at www.nps.gov/lavo.
